Your role in ending sexual violence
With October being Sexual Violence Awareness Month, we are showing you how to help create a society free from sexual violence.

October is Sexual Violence Awareness Month in Queensland. This is a time for us all to have conversations about sexual violence, to better support sexual violence survivors, and to think about how our actions and attitudes can help create a society that does not tolerate sexual violence.

1. Sexual Violence Online: 🚫 Break the Silence, Be the Change! Stand up against sexual violence online and help create a safer digital space for everyone. #DigitalRespect #SpeakOut

2. Sexual Jokes: 🙅‍♂️ It’s time to redefine what’s funny. Sexual jokes that perpetuate harmful stereotypes and rape culture have no place in our conversations. Let’s create humor that doesn’t hurt. #RespectfulBanter

3. Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: 💼 Every workplace deserves to be safe and respectful. Be an ally against sexual harassment at work by speaking up, supporting colleagues, and fostering a culture of respect. #WorkplaceRespect

4. Receiving Unsolicited Sexual Images: 📵 Respect goes beyond boundaries. When you receive an unsolicited sexual image of a woman from a mate, it’s time to call it out, delete it, and stop the cycle of harm. #RespectBoundaries

5. Enthusiastic Consent: 🔊 Let’s shift the conversation from “no means no” to “yes means yes.” Always seek enthusiastic, active consent in every intimate encounter. It’s about respect, communication, and shared desires. #EnthusiasticConsent

6. Sexual Attitudes: 🧐 Reflect on your own attitudes towards sex and relationships. Challenge stereotypes, educate yourself, and be open to change. A respectful attitude is the foundation of a safer society. #RespectfulAttitudes

7. Be an Ally: ✊ You have the power to make a difference. Be an ally for women’s safety and help prevent sexual violence. Together, we can rewrite the narrative and build a culture of respect. #AllyForChange
