Workplaces Committed to the Cause – TUH Health Fund

Workplaces hold an important role in providing safe environments for women, driving social change and eliminating men’s violence against women. We asked one of our recently accredited workplaces, TUH Health Fund, about their experiences with White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.

What results do you get / have you gotten from Workplace Accreditation with White Ribbon Australia?

TUH provides a safe and caring environment for our people and the White Ribbon Australia accreditation process has strengthened this culture. The White Ribbon Accreditation has allowed us to add the prevention of domestic and family violence and gender inequality to our strategic agenda and improve our response to the issue of family and domestic violence.

What would you say to others considering Workplace Accreditation with White Ribbon Australia?

Workplaces have a key role in in supporting victim survivors and implementing measures for addressing domestic and family violence. The cost of family and domestic violence is very real for organisations and includes decreased productivity, absenteeism, discrimination and reputational risks for the organisation. Additionally, violence can occur when an employee is at work increasing risks for employers.

The White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Program provides an organisation a clear pathway to support all employees and raise awareness of the issue and prevalence of gendered violence in our community. It is a valuable investment and commitment for organisations.

“The quote “the standards we walk past are the standards we accept” emphasised the role that everyone has. It also highlighted the continuing role of helping young boys to understand that what might be considered small things, or harmless statements “you throw like a girl” etc contributes to a culture where violence against women can emerge.”
